Brilliant Blytheswood Bursting with Bargains

For this post I turn my attention to another charity shop – namely Blytheswood Care, Academy Street Inverness. You may have seen this crop up a couple of times with some goodies over the past few posts. It is a very reasonably priced shop with a great selection of stuff. I think possibly one of the reasons it gets such great donations is because it has parking right next door and this makes donating very easy, no double yellows and double checking for traffic wardens.

Another major reason will be for the cause it represents. Blythswood Care combines the Christian message with practical help for those in need at home and abroad, regardless of their political or religious beliefs or ethnic origins. They were set up in 1966 and now for every £1 donated, Blythswood delivers more than £5 worth of aid. For every employee, Blythswood has more than 10 volunteers.

The first thing I noticed when I went in the shop was a gorgeous leather handbag on the arm of the mannequin:

Jasper Conran bag, £8.50, genuine leather.

I’ll pop a stead stream of goodies in next – and for the next two pictures, you’re not seeing double!

Kaliko Cowl neck top, size 8, £4.50 – RRP £42 – you can see something similar on the Kaliko wesbite here.

Coast Cowl neck sleeveless top, size 14, £4.00. You can see a sleeved cowl version here for £75.

Windsmoor Jacket, size 10, £10 – This patterned velvet beauty is great for all you vintage shoppers! Beautiful autumnal styling.

The dress selection in this store is always fantastic with the stand often bursting at the seams! 2 weekends ago was no exception! The following 3 items were all brand new with tags! This gives you some idea of the range of items:

Per Une “Speziale” range dress, BNWT size 10, £40 – RRP £150 according to the label which was still attached!

Monsoon dress, size 12, BNWT £40 – Monsoon dresses like this one go upwards from £140

Next autumnal style dress, heavy silk fabric , BNWT, size 10, £20 – RRp £50

So I can highly recommend a trip to this charity shop – especially if you are looking for dresses. This isn’t my usual slant but it is worth mentioning that they have a wonderful furniture section also which carries everything from mirrors to sofa’s – well worth a look if you are looking to invest in your home but on a budget.
