Lady Mary

Is there no shoe more classic than the Mary Jane. Leg lengthening but still secure, the perfect interview shoe, prim and lady like, and yet you can vamp them up for after work cocktails. Their versatility is endless.

Elle features this gorgeous pair of white Mary Janes, proving that the white stiletto is no longer the preserve of the 80s Essex Girl. The pencil thin heel keeps this looking infinitely stylish and the 60s detailing like the black push stud ensures that they’re trendy by today’s standards.

You don’t need me to tell you that the Mary Jane has been around since the time of the Virgin Mary herself, so with that in mind, check out this gorgeous selection of beautiful shoes bearing her name:

Faith Mary-Janes, size 4, £3.99, Barnardos, Castlegate, Aberdeen

Patent red shoes are everywhere this season, so why not mix two trends in one? The double strap Mary-Jane also makes a marked appearance over many designer collections, a cute twist on this timeless classic.

Dune Mary-Janes, size 4, £19.99, Oxfam, Chapel Street, Aberdeen

These snakeskin double strap Mary-Jane’s originally buy Dune are gorgeous! I wish these had been a 5 or a 6! There would have been no way I could have left them behind. Faux animal skin is a key item for this season, just look at all the leopard print and pony skin for a start!

River Island white Mary-Jane’s, size 5, £14.99, Oxfam, Chapel Street, Aberdeen

Sorry about the poor quality photographs of the last two items! As if by magic, I found white Mary-Jane’s! The charity shop Gods are clearly looking out for me at the moment. There’s no need to pay £190 for the latest shoes, just keep your eyes peeled in the Charity Shops of Britain and you will be able to find yourself an item that helps you to look your fabulous best, for less!
