Bit ironic that, given that leather is a dead animal. But it is a timeless fabric, a testament to the longevity of natural fabrics both in terms of durability and style.
I have had a bit of a blockage of late when it has come to leather. I felt for a while that every second post had something made from either leather or pleather and frankly I was beginning to tire of it. However, I continued to come across fantastic leather pieces in the various charity shops of my area and I have been storing them up, as a squirrel deposits it’s nuts all over the woodland floor, I have been gathering a veritable feast of leather jackets, all scattered in various locations across my hard-drive.
It’s at times like this when I wish I were more organised. If I were a squirrel, I would be a thin squirrel, unable to locate any of my harvest due to unorthodox and haphazard methods of filing ones acorns. Saying to myself, I’ll just pop it there, next to that orange leaf…
You don’t need pictures of Elle or Vogue to demonstrate that Leather is still very much at the forefront of our wardrobes, so I’m just going to give it to you straight, once I find it that is:
I absolutely adored this jacket. I loved the biker chick style ribbing detail, and actually chose a pair of gloves with similar detail by Dent’s from TK Maxx for more than the cost of this jacket. I like it’s sharp art deco style lines. The neck line would be fairly restrictive and not especially practical however a snood/scarf affair would work well.
These were unusual, and a bit on the snug side for a 10! They would look great with sky high heels and an oversized baggy t-shirt. Although snug at the waist, they had just a little too much fabric on the thighs and would have been better if made with something stretchy.
This jacket is made in Ecuador and is made from a gorgeous quality of leather. The cut is exquisite, this really is a classic item.
This is a gorgeous coat but I can’t justify it this close to Christmas. I perhaps would have preferred the button to fasten a little lower down however you cannot deny that this jacket would look fantastic with a simple white T, some skinny jeans and killer heels.
